Information on Bidfood product classifications
Bidfood stocks three types of products:
Bidfood own brand
Bidfood own brand products offer an alternative to manufacturers’ branded products. They are manufactured by our supply partners to meet our brand values and quality standards. Details of all Bidfood brand standards are available in the Suppliers Technical Manual (STM). All own brand products appear in our published sales brochures and are available to all customers.
Manufacturer branded products sourced by Bidfood
These products are sourced by Bidfood’s Buying department from reputable suppliers and are available to all customers. These products fall into different categories:
- On- list (or core range) products – featured in our published sales brochures.
- Off-list products – not included in our published sales brochures, but are available to all customers.
Customer nominated products
Many national and regional customers have direct links with manufacturers and purchase specific products for use within their own outlets. These may be manufacturers’ branded or end-user specific e.g. customer branded (or signature) products. All customer sourced products do not appear in the sales brochure and are only available to the specific customer.
In these cases Bidfood is contracted to act as stockist and to provide local distribution to individual outlets within the customer’s organisation. Such products are not made available to all customers. These products remain the joint responsibility of the nominated customer and the product supplier. This responsibility includes product pricing, supply availability and clearance of any discontinued stock. Customer-sourced products are only stocked by Bidfood under strict additional conditions, including underwriting of stock by the supplier (full details are in the Supply Chain Manual, available in the password protected section of the website).
